A career built alongside schools.

With more than 30 years’ experience across mainstream, specialist and alternative education, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside children, families, colleagues and school leaders in a wide range of settings.

Throughout my career, I’ve held senior leadership roles including deputy headship, acting headship, strategic SEND leadership, safeguarding, school improvement and leadership development. I’ve worked across mainstream, specialist and alternative settings, supporting schools through change, developing inclusive practice and helping leaders build confident, capable teams.

Experience & Impact

Over more than thirty years in education, I have led and contributed to improvement across mainstream, specialist and alternative settings. Some highlights include:

Growing Pebble Brook School from around 98 to 180 pupils, supporting its development while maintaining a strong focus on quality, inclusion and high expectations.

Serving as Acting Headteacher, providing stability and strategic leadership during a significant period of change.

Leading strategic SEND, safeguarding, behaviour and school improvement across a successful special school.

Developing innovative specialist provision, including establishing a dedicated class that enabled pupils with the most complex needs to remain successfully in school.

Building strong partnerships with governors, local authorities and multi-agency teams to improve outcomes for children and families.

Coaching and developing leaders at every stage of their careers, helping individuals and teams grow in confidence and effectiveness.

I founded JW Leadership because I wanted to continue supporting schools in a way that is collaborative, practical and rooted in relationships. Every school is different, and I believe the best support comes from listening first, understanding context and working alongside people to achieve sustainable improvement.

Throughout my career, one principle has remained constant: people come first.

When leaders feel supported, staff flourish. When staff flourish, children and young people thrive.

Whether I’m providing interim leadership, supporting school improvement, strengthening inclusive practice or developing future leaders, my aim is always the same—to leave schools stronger, more confident and better equipped for the future.
